A masterpiece by the sea in Casablanca
The Hassan II Mosque, built by BYMARO – Bouygues Bâtiment International’s subsidiary in Morocco – and designed by architect Michel Pinseau, rises majestically from land reclaimed from the sea in Casablanca. This extraordinary religious monument features the world’s tallest minaret at 200 meters, surpassing historical landmarks such as the Great Pyramid of Giza and St. Peter’s Basilica. With sculpted arcades reaching 40 meters and a retractable roof at 60 meters high, the mosque combines technical prowess with exquisite Moroccan artistry. Ornate capitals, coffered ceilings, decorative domes, grand doors, moucharabiehs, and intricate metalwork define its splendor.

Technical excellence meets artistic achievement
Construction of the Hassan II Mosque required exceptional resources and organization. Over 3,600 artisans worked round-the-clock for 17 months to complete the structural work, and the entire project took five years to finish. The mosque stands on a 15-hectare site reclaimed from the Atlantic Ocean, featuring monumental marble courtyards and exceptional decorative detail. This masterpiece blends technical challenges and Moroccan craftsmanship, marking a unique symbol for Casablanca and a reference for religious architecture worldwide.
